We now turn our focus to the class of 2020. These five players had big summers that saw their stock soar as recruits.
Morgan Thompson Morgan Thompson 6'3" | C Northville | 2020 State MI (C, Northville, Factory Basketball)
Prep Girls Hoops Ranking: #54
Thompson caught the eye of quite a few college coaches this summer. She has become one of the top pure post players in the class of 2020. Thompson is a force in the paint on both ends of the floor. Her improvement this spring and summer has turned her into a legit Division 1 recruit. Thompson should be considered a top 20 player……at least.
Lauren Ross Lauren Ross 5'10" | PG Muskegon Reeths-Puffer | 2020 State MI (PG, Muskegon Reeths-Puffer, MBA)
Prep Girls Hoops Ranking: #44
Ross had s big grassroots season. She proved that she’s one of the top ball handlers in her class. Ross’ skill set also includes great court vision, which makes her dangerous with the ball. She really showed off her ability to rebound as a guard. Ross has an innate ability to track the ball of the rim. She could see herself rise into the top 20-30 players in the class of 2020.
Sanaya Gregory Sanaya Gregory 5'5" | PG East Lansing | 2020 State MI (G, East Lansing, Michigan Storm)
Prep Girls Hoops Ranking: #38
Its not all about stats for Gregory. She does all the things that don’t necessarily show up on the stat sheet, and college coaches took notice this summer. Gregory is an elite defender and isn’t afraid to take on the opponents top offensive weapon. She’s an excellent floor general who commands the respect of both teammates and opponents. Gregory should see herself slide up the prospect rankings significantly.
Kaylee Wendel Kaylee Wendel 5'10" | SF Howell | 2020 State MI (G, Howell, TC Elite)
Prep Girls Hoops Ranking: #24
Wendel definitely proved herself over the grassroots season. At 5’10”, she’s not just a perimeter player with size. Wendel has shown that she knows how to use it. Her length caused trouble for opponents both offensively and defensively. Wendel used this summer to show off an an ability to finish strong at the rim through contact. We could see her slip into the top 20.
Cameron Grant Cameron Grant 6'0" | PF Macomb Dakota | 2020 State MI (F, Macomb Dakota, Michigan Mystics )
Grant is one of the most versatile players in Michigan. She’s a headache for opponents on both ends of the floor. Grant attacked the basket more this summer, which was impressive to scouts and college coaches. She’s a disciplined and efficient athlete who has proven to be one of the top players in the state. Grant is a clear cut Division 1 recruit. While it’s tough to move up from #9, it’s impossible to ignore the growth of her game over grassroots season.
