Continue ReadingThe strength of the 2021 class in Indiana lies in the frontline group, as all 15 of the girls below reside at 39th or better in our Class of 2021 Top-75 list. There are an additional nine ladies in the remaining 36 spots, for a grand total of 24 prospects in our Top-75. Below is an in-depth look at the top five prospects in this position group, and at least three of them have Division I offers heading into their Sophomore seasons.
- Meg Newman, 2021, 6-1 F, North Central H.S. (Indianapolis)
Meg is a nice blend of size, skill, and physical talent. She has an athletic frame, good length, and she runs and jumps fairly well for a front-liner. She can actually handle the ball productively around the perimeter and in transition, and she’s a capable shooter to about 17-feet. She is best in the mid-post area though, and she’s great one to two dribbles off the bounce attacking the basket. I just think she has one of the most complete packages right now of any 2021 prospect in Indiana. Assuming she continues to develop her skillset, look for her to draw a number of Division I suitors this season.
- Bridget Dunn, 2021, 6-1 F, Carmel H.S.
Bridget Dunn of Carmel
When I saw Bridget for the first time back in the spring of 2017, she was more of a 5-9 wing. Fast forward a year, and she has really grown and turned into a highly skillful forward. She is still somewhat thin, but she has tremendous length, she moves well around the floor for someone who grew quickly, and she’s managed to maintain a solid perimeter skillset. She may still squeeze out another inch or two as well. She handles it well for a big forward, and she has a decent face-up game to the perimeter. She actually has some similarities to 2018 Carmel grad Blake Smith (Ball State).
- Chanteese Craig, 2021, 6-0 C/F, Concordia Lutheran H.S.
Chanteese is a big, strong, powerful lefty post player who plays with a lot of physicality. She does a nice job of using her strong frame to create space around the block, and she prefers to score it down there first. However, she is effective in the mid-post, as she’s one of the better interior passers I’ve seen in a while. She also has a soft touch to about 15-feet. I’m not sure she’s going to grow much more, so if she can continue to develop her faceup game and her explosiveness, that would be most beneficial to her game and her recruiting.
- Brynn Shoup-Hill, 2021, 6-2 C, Goshen H.S.
Brynn Shoup-Hill of Goshen
Brynn is another really nice-looking youngster. She has an athletic frame, some wiry strength, and she looks like she still might add another inch. She prefers to face the basket and play at about 17-feet, and she’s a capable shooter in that range, but she almost settles too much right now…likely just a product of being young. I think she’s strong enough and athletic enough to be more dominant around the low-block and be an inside-out threat. Regardless, she flashes a ton of potential / upside, and she should soon see several Division I schools show interest.
- Nakaih Hunter, 2021, 5-11 F, North Central H.S. (Indpls.)
Nakaih is another strong, physical, assertive interior player who plays with a lot of attitude. She loves contact and actually seeks it out, plus she’s great finishing inside, even against taller, longer opponents. Over the last year, I feel like she’s really improved her game from the mid-post. She is putting it on the floor more productively and attacking the basket, plus she has developed a soft touch to about 15-feet. If she can continue working on her face-up skillset and her lateral quickness, look for her to continue picking up a lot of college interest.
