- Century (Bismarck)– Who will dethrone the champs? The Patriots finished the season as the Class A state champions with a record of 30-1. Their only lost coming to a very talented St. Mary’s team. Eventually, Century was able to redeem themselves in the state tournament semi-finals game with a 55-48 win.
- St. Mary’s Central- The Saints are probably the toughest match up for Century. They were the only team to hand them a lost last year. However, their next meeting may have left a sour taste in their mouths. They battled back and forth during the state tournament but came up short falling one spot out of the title game. St. Mary’s is primed to make another impact in North Dakota basketball. They have slayed the giant once before, but can they do it for all the marbles?
- Mandan– Last year, the Braves knocked of the reigning champs of Bismarck Legacy in the semis. This set up a fourth meeting with Century in the championship game held on the campus of NDSU. The Braves led in three of the games and were tied at halftime with the Patriots in each of those four meetings. Mandan had a 30-23 halftime lead in the title game but couldn’t close the deal. Mandan will have their eyes on the prize this time around, looking for “The Get Back!”
- Fargo Davies– Coming off a David vs Goliath match up with Bismarck Legacy, in which Davies was Goliath, the Braves season ended in the first round of state. One of the better teams in the state will look to regroup, think about their past transgressions and improve upon them. The Braves have a talented squad which include seniors Lauren Fyhire and Alyssa Paper. They will be a fun team to watch.
- Legacy (Bismarck)-Although they won the chip in 2016-2017 the Sabers had an average year in 2017-2018. Until state! They not only beat the higher-ranking seed, Fargo Davies, they destroyed them 68-38. The Sabers looked like themselves of yester years…… or maybe not. All that exaltation from the game before was bottled up against Mandan in the semi-finals. They put up a good fight, but it wasn’t enough. Legacy has that championship pedigree, so they will definitely be back for more.
