With the season now moving forward , I will start previewing conferences in the Northern Illinois area. In addition to the previews I will be creating articles that will highlight players from that conference. Next up is the CSL Conference's South division.
2017-18 Season Conference Standings
Evanston 8-2
New Trier 8-2
Maine South 6-4
Glenbrook South 5-5
Niles West 3-7
Niles North 0-10
2018-19 Division Outlook/Team Capsules
The 6 teams in the CSL South Division all play very good basketball . New Trier , Maine South and Evanston appear to be have slight advantage over the other teams in the conference race . However, don't count out Glenbrook South, Niles West and Niles North as to make some noise before the end of the season as they all have enough depth and experience to play be competitive in conference Good Luck and Play Hard !

Key Returning Players :
We have several returning varsity players from last year. But, we return our best player in senior Lauren D'Souza. Lauren missed the entire season last year, so we are really excited about her return. Lauren can play multiple positions including Point Guard and she can also play in the low post. She has worked extremely hard in the off-season to prepare herself for her senior year. I know she is excited about the season! She is one of the most committed players I have ever coached in my 18 year coaching career.
We will also be a fairly young team this year. Another returning varsity player this season is sophomore Albiona Ahmeti. Albiona played significant minutes last year as a freshman and has put in a lot of work this offseason. Albiona plays point guard and off-guard.
Key Newcomers:
As a program, we are excited about our freshmen class. And, our returning sophomore class is hungry and gave us a tremendous summer.
One thing we should know about your team : Our varsity team will not have a lot of size this year, but we will work hard and be scrappy. We are emphasizing an offensive and defensive attack mentality and hope to get out and play with pace.

Team Strengths this season : This should be the best scoring team that Evanston has had in a while. We are also very deep as we have 9-10 players that could potentially start. Could be a different leading scorer every game
Team Weakness this season : We are experienced in some positions but very inexperienced in others. Talented but must learn to play together. Missing our leading scorer from last season, should be back hopefully in December

Coaches Comments/Team Overview
Team Strengths this season : We are coming in this year with a very experienced team. We are returning 9 varsity players. We have good team quickness and will look to play an up-tempo game. We have strong guard play that will allow us to create opportunities to attack the basket and open up the perimeter for our strong shooters.
Team Weakness this season : We will need to rebound the ball well to control the pace of the game we want to play. We will need to play a full 32 minute game with more consistency.
One thing that we should know about your team: The 2018-2019 varsity team has the skills and varsity experience to have a successful season. We are returning 4 starters from last year’s team.
