Nearly 60 kids converged at the Bullis School in Potomac, Maryland most were still in middle school. Keith “Shot Doc” Veney, Shamon Antrum and Darren McLinton (all former professional players) were the trainers for the day that focused on skill and instructional work. There was a lot of talent to talk about, here are five players that really made an impact.
Jade TillmanJade Tillman – Brambleton Middle School -Team Takeover – 2023
Jade had the overall most complete package that we saw in the building. At 5’11” she showed the ability to attack and finish in transition, score with her back to the basket and knock down the three pointer. Her she has a great frame for high school and body and showed the willingness to get physical when needed. She has the skill to help a high school program right now. Jade was selected as the She Got Game Combine Most Outstanding Player.
Drew JordanDrew Jordan – Takoma Educational – Team Takeover – 2023
Drew played aggressively and attacked the basket well. She took good angles to when driving. She’s very athletic and takes advantage of it on both ends of the floor, especially defensively. Jordan wore jersey number 23 and it had a very familiar look watching her game.
Nyla Buyck
Nyla Buyck – Kettering Middle School – Team Durant – 2023
Nyla looked like a college player walking in the gym. At 6’3″ she was the most physically imposing player in the building. She showed some impressive ball handling ability for her size during the drill work. She blocked and altered shots without fouling during the games and finished very well down low through contact.
Sasha Barr
Sasha Barr – Westland Middle School – PV Thunder – 2025
Sasha repeatedly knocked down three pointers during drills and in the games. She has a quick release and I was amazing how she kept getting left open but, she certainly made them pay. With everyone always in need of shooters to stretch the floor, I can see her as a solid perimeter player in high school.
Gabrielle Kennerly
Gabrielle Kennerly – Ellicott Mills Middle School – Maryland Shooting Stars – 2023
Gabrielle was one of the top all around players in the building. She used good fakes to get by her defenders and had a very deceptive dribble. She has good size at her listed 5’8″ and looks like she has some room to grow a bit more. Gabrielle was knocking down midrange shots consistently in drills.
