There is so much talent that our tenth ranked player in the class has five offers already and her junior campaign has just started. Danville is coming off of two straight semi state appearances and they are looking to finally breakthrough and make it to state. A big part of that state run is going to be Ella Collier. The 5’10 wing is able to play three different positions on the floor and her game speaks for itself.
Possibly the best shooter in the state, Collier is coming off of a campaign where she scored 21.3 points a game and made 55 three-pointers. Collier is a great player because she is so versatile and has the ability to defend so many different players. She has top notch court vision that you can really see on both ends of the floor. She has active hands that get in the passing lanes and also has the innate ability to find open teammates.
Collier has five offers to date: Florida International, Maryville, Old Dominion, Richmond and UT-Martin. She has taken unofficial visits to Eastern Illinois, Florida International, Indiana Wesleyan, Maryville, Old Dominion, Richmond, Purdue Fort Wayne and UT-Martin. Collier is setting up an official visit to Old Dominion but doesn’t quite yet have a date set for that.
Collier is a sought after prospect in the state of Indiana and interest in her will only continue to grow. She is tough under the basket and can score the ball at all three levels. Her shot is very repeatable and fluid and she is able to get it off without much space. This is still something that she is working on in order to be able to perfect it. She’s a known scorer, so teams are going to work on different defenses to throw at her. She told me that she is already working at getting open when face guarded.
Her coach, Kaley May, played college basketball at Butler so that’s an invaluable resource for her she tells me. For Collier, who has a goal of college basketball at a high level this direction from such a close person to her really helps her in the process.
“She gives me really good advice about college basketball and what it is like. She also puts me through college workouts that will help prepare me. I value her opinion and she is a huge help when it comes to the recruiting process.”
Collier is going to keep getting interest from new schools as the season goes along. She is a player who is always working to get better and stronger. She has a ton of potential to get even better and a Division I coach is going to be able to mold her into a contributor in year one. This is a player who is going to turn some heads this year on her quest for a state title.
