Continue ReadingUrbana took on St. Teresa last night, Urbana led early in the first quarter while they drained threes from Chian Scott and Alarea Jackson. St. Teresa kept fighting and came back into the game feeding the ball to Addison Newbon in the post who had a game-high 20 points for the Bulldogs. The game was a contrast of styles of play Urbana style is to push the pace and to penerate and kick to their shooters. St. Teresa gameplan was toscore in the paint and play high low basketball. At the half Urbana lead at the half 28-22. Pushed ahead in the 3rd quarter with Chian Scott draining 3’s she had a game high 25 points for the Tigers.
- Chian Scott was on fire tonight, she also played well in the pick and roll to create space for her jump shot. She also ran in tranistion to her spots so she can get a smooth releasing shot off. She is an offensive juggernaut with the fear she puts in defesnes with her shot. She got to the line tonight as well and she is in for a big year with the usage she is going to have.
- Alarea Jackson was the best I ever seen tonight. She shot the ball fascnatic and got to her spots, her handle looked more tighter as well and her first step was impressive. Alarea scored 19 points and was huge for Urbana down the stretch.
- Urbana played great their style of play is very fun towatch and they have great spacing and shooting. The Tigers are now 2-0 with an impressive win over this Bulldogs team. Forecasting down the road I do worried about their post players rebounding and defending the post.
- Addison Newbon (Sophmore) played outstanding. She was great in the post forcing double teams and passing out of them to open shooters. Her hands and footwork was most impressive. She had a game high 20 points and 12 rebounds and was a monster on the boards against the Tigers. She had also made a few 3’s and a nice mid range shot, showing she has the potential to become a plus shooter.
- St. Teresa has all the goods to make another run at State they were missing their best player DaeLin Switzer, Newbon and Claire Peters played great. They do to work on some outside shooting but I do believe getting Switzer back will solve a lot of their problems.
