Top perfromances?
- Clare Breden the Sophomore guard from Jerseyville is hard to stop. She is very quick with the ball and has deep range. She had 19 points both games today and is the key for Jerseyville offensively.
- Abby Manns a Junior wing from Jerseyville is a defensive stopper. She slowed down Adrenna Snipes in the big Jerseyville win. She can guard just about any position on the floor with her long arms and tough approach to the game.
- Laila McNeal a Senior wing from Alton has abnormal athletic ability. She is very off the first step, can really jump and you do not want to let her run the floor. She needs to continue to work on her outside shot, but Laila can get to the rack. Laila had 12 and 19 in her two games today.
- Samya Johnson a Sophomore wing player from McCluer North is going to be good. She is long and athletic with good skill. She had 13 points tonight and as a sophomore, she has room to grow.
- Ali Barisch a Senior guard from Triad seems to find ways to score. She can hit the 3 and can use her strength to find baskets in the paint. Ali is a good free throw shooter that also finds ways to get from the line game after game. She had 16 in both of triads wins today.
- Adrenna Snipes the Freshman point guard for Alton Marquette put on a show against Taylorville. She had 33 of the teams 54 points in a tough close game. Every time they needed her, Adrenna stepped up. In the night cap against Jerseyville she was held to 12. As a freshman she certainly is still improving but she is already very tough to guard.
- Marley Mullink and Hannah Krumwiede are two excellent Seniors for Carrollton. Mullink is a forward and Krumwiede the point guard. Marley had 19 and Hannah had 15 tonight in their win. Mullink is tough in the middle of the lane against a zone. She can hit the 10-15 shot consistently. Hannah can hit the 3 and is strong enough to work her way to the basket.
- Sophie Lorton a Senior guard from Calhoun, is a tough player to slow down. Today she had 18 in their loss to Jersevville. Sophomore guard Collen Schumann chipped in with 15.
- Taylorville has two tough Senior guards in Natalie Snyder and Olivia Pruitt. Snyder had 15 and Pruitt 12 in their loss to Alton Marquette. Snyder hit a couple of 3’s along with being tough to handle in paint. Pruitt was hot on her jumper and was able to hit a 3 along with a few tough mid range shots. These two are hard to handle. Alton Marquette was doing everything it could to slow down Snyder but she still found a way to get 15.
The second day of pool play games will be Friday. In Pool A Carrollton has two big games including a 4:30 matchup with unbeaten Triad. In Pool B Taylorville and meets Jerseyville and Calhoun while Calhoun also has a rematch with Alton Marquette.
