This year, we get to see a group of freshmen who are ready to make their mark. We will look at some of the players in the class of 2022 who will have an impact this year and beyond.
Nevaeh Williams (G, Mt. Clemens)
Williams has already led her team in scoring. She’s the type of player that contributes in multiple ways. Williams is an excellent defender with quick feet.
Sydney Pnacek (Dexter, G)
Pnacek can shoot from three point range and is athletic enough to get to the rim and finish. She is equally as effective in the half court set as in transition.
Zoey Persails (G, Reese)
Persails has shown early in her high school career that she has the ability to get buckets. She is fearlessly competitive player and very mentally tough. Persails will be a force for years to come.
Gracey Metz (SG, Hartland)
Metz is a superb perimeter player. She’s a good ball handler who can get to the basket. Metz is a good passing guard who can find open teammates crisply and accurately.
Ruby Whitehorn (G, Detroit Edison)
Whitehorn is a top 2022 prospect on a national scale. She has the ability to get to the rim and finish with either hand. Whitehorn is quite simply, an elite athlete.
Kerry Donehue (PG, Livonia Stevenson)
Donehue is a good ball handler and a steady leader. She’s an under the radar player who could have a big freshmen season.
Raigan Lawrence (PG, Avondale)
Lawrence is a very efficient lead guard. In her first game, she had only 3 turnovers and went to the free throw line 14 times. Numbers like these are evidence of a mature game.
Jasmine Soles (CG, Taylor High School)
Soles is an outstanding ball handler, which she uses to get to the rim. When she gets near the bucket, she’s a solid finisher. Soles keeps defenses honest with her three point shot.
Kaley Douglass (CG, Williamston)
Douglass is a dangerous shooter who is a threat from anywhere. She has good court vision which gives her the versatility to play either guard spot. Douglass is a disciplined and intelligent defender.
Mya Hicks (SG, Ann Arbor Pioneer)
Hicks is a finely tuned athlete who is physically ready for big time high school basketball. She’s a consistent and versatile scorer, with the ability to create her own look at the basket.
Leah Lappin (G/F, Hartland)
Lappin is a high level athlete with length. She is a versatile player who can successfully play and defend multiple positions. Lappin, even as a freshman, will bring toughness to the Hartland lineup.
