The first Prep Girls Hoops Virginia Rankings were posted, and now it’s time to take a closer look. Below is part one of our breakdown of the top wings in the class. Stay tuned for more content, including additional position-by-position break-downs and more.
Samantha Brunelle – 6’4″ – William Monroe
Sam BrunelleBrunelle is the most decorated player in the state, she has a couple of USA Basketball medals, Gatorade State Player of the Year and the list goes on. She is a tremendous scorer who averages around 30 points per game and has posted several 50 point games in her career. She is versatile able to play each position on the court. The Notre Dame signee is the top wing in the state and one of the best all around players in the country. Her three point shooting makes her a very unique player for her size as she really doesn’t have an equivalent player to guard. The Virginia State Championship is about the only thing that has eluded her, can this be her year? Prep Girls Hoops Virginia has her as the number two player in the state.
Jada Boyd – 5’9″ – Governors School

Jada has put up multiple 60 point games in her high school career so she knows how to score. She is an excellent perimeter scorer that will be lacing up her sneakers for the NC State Wolfpack next season. She is very strong at attacking the basket and finishing after contact. She can also score from beyond the arc. She is overall the number four ranked player in the state of Virginia.
Carol Miller – 6’0″ – Thomas Edison
Carol MillerCarol has been a fan of ours since middle school. It has been fun watching her evolution into one of the top shooting wings around. She has the size to work multiple areas on the floor and is effective both in the post and perimeter. Many forget about her speed and athleticism because she is so skilled but, she can get by players with little problem getting to the basket for the finish. Carol currently holds the number five spot in the state and will remain in state going to the University of Virginia next season.
Elizabeth Shean – 5’9″ – Yorktown
Elizabeth “Liz” SheanLiz can compete with the best there is, she has a very quick release having the ability to catch and shoot before defenders can react and close out. Her shooting ability and range makes her pump fake very effective and she uses it well as a weapon of choice to get by defenders. She can get to the basket but, has a very good mid range pull up jumper that’s just as accurate as a layup. She is Virginia’s eight ranked player overall. Liz will be lacing up at Boston University at the next level.
Alexi Hempe – 6’0″ – TPLS Christian Academy

Alexi rounds out the top 10 in the class rankings and is one of the most versatile wings in the state. The six footer will take her talents the the University of South Dakota next season to continue her basketball career. She has great floor vision as she spends a good amount of time running the point on her high school team. Alexi also is a good shooter with effortless three point range. She comes from a basketball family as sister Meritt was a star at the University of Georgia before turning professional. I can see Alexi joining the professional ranks as well after she finishes her college career out west.
