Saline, however, set the tone early. They negated the inside strength of Salem by boxing out off shots and attacking the glass from the perimeter.
For the entire length of the game, Saline played physical and disciplined defense. Their defense led to transition scoring opportunites on the other end. Saline had blown open tne game, holding a 47-27 lead at the end of the 3rd quarter. Saline put on an offensive show in the 4th quarter, scoring 24 points by continuing to attack the basket. Saline topped Salem by a final score of 71-34.

Can Salem take advantage of their size and strength in the paint?
Salem has tough and physical players in the post. But those players need clean touches in the paint. Salem needs better post entry passes and their bigs need to have stronger hands to secure the ball.
Can Saline continue the offensive outburst?
It appears so. While Ella Stemmer is a star and will get her points, Saline had a lot of other girls contribute offensively. Saline had 11 players score against Salem. If Saline attacks the rim like they did last night, good things will happen. Stemmer led the way with 17 points, while Nicole Sweetland chipped in with 15.
Can Saline take the next step and be an elite level team?
They’re well on their way. The team is young, but it’s deep and talented. Players like Lisa Sekerak, Kelsey Alexander, Amera Boyd, and Maddy Welch look like they’re ready to be key players on a high level team.
Can Salem limit their tuenovers?
Turnovers were a big issue for Salem against Saline. The miscues made it tough to get a clean look at the basket. It also allowed Saline to push the ball in transition and draw fouls. Salem needs crisper passes on the perimeter and post entry passes need to be clean. Cutting down the turnover numbers will make life a lot easier for Salem.
How good is Saline’s Ella Stemmer?
Stemmer is ready to take that next step. She’s a well rounded player who is a very difficult matchup. She appears ready to take on the star role on a good basketball team.
