Swierccz is focused on her team and ready to lead Airport High School to a memorable season. She is a sharpshooting guard who can be counted on as a high level go to scorer. Swiercz understands that as great of an accomplishment as 1000 points is, there are still goals in front of her.
We caught up with Emily Swiercz to talk about her game, her team, and what has made her successful.
Question:
What is your biggest strength as a basketball player?
Emily Swiercz:
Ball handling.
Question:
What do you think of your teams perfomance so far?
Emily Swiercz:
I think our defense is very good but offense needs improvement.
Question:
You recently reached the 1000 career points milestone. How did it feel?
Emily Swiercz:
It felt awesome reaching it. I never thought about it until junior year came.
Question:
What do you think was the key factor in you being able to score 1000 points?
Emily Swiercz:
My teammates making that extra pass to me and staying after practices to get extra shots in.
Question:
Any more personal or team goals you want to reach this year?
Emily Swiercz:
I want to win Huron league and make it to states.
Question:
What is your greatest moment in basketball?
Emily Swiercz:
10th grade year hitting a three pointer to tie the game against St. Mary Catholic Central, then later knocking down the game winning free throws. And this year beating Arbor Prep.
Question:
Who is the toughest player that you have ever matched up with?
Emily Swiercz:

What advice would you give a kid trying to have some of the success in basketball that you’ve had?
Emily Swiercz:
Have fun and work hard.
