We will cover who you should watch for, the teams that could come out of nowhere, and of course, the bracket buster candidate. We will also list five players from each class that you need to keep an eye on throughout the bracket as they can really change the game in a hurry. The complete Region 6 bracket is posted below.
The Teams
Iowa Falls-Alden (17-2)
West Marshall (11-7)
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows (10-11)
Williamsburg (8-12)
Nevada (8-13)
Benton (7-12)
Vinton-Shellsburg (4-17)
South Hardin (1-18)
The Favorite
Iowa Falls-Alden
Iowa Falls-Alden is the clear cut favorite to get through this region. They sit at 17-2 and have five less losses than anyone else in the region. They are scoring 57.1 points a game this year, but far the most in the region. Also on the year they have made 145 3-pointers, which is 69 more than the next most in the region. They should be in full control. Seniors Katie Meyer and Grace Renaud average 15.7 points a game and 15.3 points a game, respectively.
The Sleeper
West Marshall
West Marshall has lost seven games this year and they really struggle shooting the ball from the free throw line. They are shooting just 46 percent from the charity stripe and just 36 percent from the floor. They do outscore the opposition by 8.9 points a game, but I just don’t think that their shooting will allow them to hang with Iowa Falls-Alden. Kayla Cripps, a senior, averages 12.6 points a game.
The Outside Shot
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows
This is a team that scores 45.6 points a game but really struggle to win games as they sit at 10-11. They’ve lost to Iowa Falls-Alden twice this year and the only other team they’ve played was South Hardin. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows has made 76 3-pointers, which is second in the region. Raven Kinnetz, a sophomore has scored 13.7 points a game this season.
