Continue ReadingThe 7:15 game was between 4A schools (12) Chiawana and (5) Glacier Peak. Ciawana entered this game coming off of a loser-out victory over University HS. Glacier Peak took a 15 point loss to Central Valley that I was also in attendance for. Glacier Peak is known for its uptempo style of play, while Chiawana can do a little bit of uptempo and half court game with skilled scorers. The game was extremely competitive, but sloppy with the amount of turnovers and missed shots. Neither team could create much separation and the game would ultimately go into double OT with multiple clutch plays by both teams. Although it was neck and neck for the entire game, Chiawana eventually ran out of gas, while Glacier Peak kept running. GP won 58-49.
Chiawana shot 12/42 from the field with 36 turnovers.
Glacier Peak shot 19/64 (1-20 from 3) with 33 turnovers.
Some of the Top Performers:
2021 5’8 G Delaney Pink (Chiawana HS) – Showed some really nice attacks to the basket and some nice passes when she finally settled in versus Glacier Peak’s press. She is a good defender and definitely has a nose for the ball. She led Chiawana with 15 points.
2021 5’5 G Aaliyah Collins (Glacier Peak HS) – Small, but ultra quick guard that made plays on defense with her speed. She is one of the fastest coast to coast players I have seen on day one. Her best take was full speed down court when she made the game tying layup to send the game into OT. She shot 5-15 from the field, but came through in the clutch and made 10/10 free throws.
2021 5’8 G Maya Erling (Glacier Peak HS) – Athletic guard that can hang in the air with solid body control. She finished well around the rim in this game and made her presence felt in spurts. She was apart of countless turnovers forced on Chiawana.
2019 5’8 G Haley Grambo (Glacier Peak HS) – Really tough point guard leader that plays hard on both ends. She is at her best attacking the basket and making athletic plays in the paint. She has a nose for the ball and makes the ball handlers change direction multiple times. She made the game tying shot to send the game into double OT.
2019 5’7 G Macey Morales (Chiawana HS) – Point guard that has really pretty shooting form. Her follow through is consistent and she was on balance on every shot. She scored 13 points and was 8/8 from the line.
2019 6’1 P Clare Eubanks (Chiawana HS) – The Northwest Nazarene signee showed why she is a college recruit. She is a good rebounder and can finish with either hand in the post. Chiawana struggled getting her the ball at times with back court pressure, but she was effective in her touches.
2021 5’11 PF Madison Rubino (Glacier Peak HS) – Strong inside presence that is a threat for put backs. She moves pretty well and can defend a couple of positions.
Glacier Peak will play Lewis and Clark at 7:15pm tomorrow.
