Pickerington Central was attempting to win their second state title in a row, but a late run by Mount Notre Dame put a damper on those hopes. In it most of the way, Pickerington Central went about seven minutes without a basket in the second half. Going on a 18-0 run, Mount Notre Dame stepped up their game on both sides. Ending the run on a 20-2 stretch, the Cougars took Pick Central out of the game.
Forcing Pickerington Central to shoot less than 26% from the field, Mount Notre Dame had heavy control of the game by mid fourth quarter. The Cougars were able to shoot over 60% from the field, which will win you a lot of ball games.
Who led the way:
For Cincinnati Mount Notre Dame, Julia Hoefling put in 14 points, that Central had no answer to. Gabbie Marshall put in 11 points. ‘21 player Laila Phelia added 10 for the Cougars.
