Classen SAS Falls to Anadarko
Classen SAS spent the last half of season being ranked #2 with only 1 loss from #1 ranked 6A opponent Putnam City West while Anadarko came in ranked #5 in 4A with only 3 losses for the season. In the second matchup of the season between the two teams, the first game featured #10 Averi Zinn making a half-court shot to send the game into overtime. The second match up was another riveting overtime game! Classen SAS struggled in the 1st quarter by getting outscored 20-9, mainly due to #30 Lexi Foreman having a hot hand from the 3-point line. Nonetheless, Classen SAS made a comeback in the 2nd quarter holding Anadarko to 6 points in which #30 Lexi Foreman scored the only points of the quarter by knocking down two more 3-pointers which was enough for Classen SAS to take the lead by half time with the score being 28-26. The Third Quarter was pretty even in play, but Anadarko took the lead in the 3rd with the score being 42-44. The back and forth battle continued until Classen SAS got in foul trouble in the 4th quarter forcing players to the bench and leading to 2 starters fouling out of the game. Meanwhile, #30 Lexi Foreman could not be stopped while her teammates #4 Kaylee Borden and #10 Averi Zinn contributed to what amounted to a herculean team effort. In overtime, Classen SAS had another player foul out the game but still fought and stayed in the game, largely due to missed free throws by Anadarko. Eventually Anadarko pulled away with the victory by 3 points to advance to state.
