With 4 McDonald’s All-Americans and a 3-time Ms. Basketball, as well as a number of All-Ohioans who contributed to state championship teams and Final 4 runs – Ohio’s senior class will be one to remember!
Let’s take a look at the PGH All-Ohio teams for the Class of 2019.

Zia Cooke – 5’9 Guard – Toledo Rogers
Cooke – a South Carolina commit and McDonald’s All-American selection- was dominant this year as she led her Toledo Rogers squad to back-to-back DII state championships. Zia was named the DII OPWSA state Player of the Year after averaging over 22 points and 4 assists per game.
1st Team:
Jordan Horston – 6’2 Guard – Columbus Africentric
Horston – a McDonald’s All-American selection who is headed to the University of Tennessee – was one of the top 2-way players in the entire country during her HS career. Jordan – the DIII OPWSA state Player of the Year – led her Columbus Africentric team to a 28-0 record and back-to-back DIII state championships, as well as a top-5 USA Today national ranking.
Jacy Sheldon – 5’11 Guard – Dublin Coffman
Sheldon is headed to Ohio State next year and those in her home state could not be more excited to watch her in the Scarlet and Grey over the next 4 seasons. Jacy was a dynamic scorer, averaging over 28 PPG and finishing with over 2000 career markers, as she was named to the OPSWA DI All-Ohio 1st Team.

Perhaps the most decorated of all of the players in the Class of 2019, Bell – a McDonald’s All-American – was a 3-time Ms. Basketball recipient (the 1st girls basketball player in state history to achieve this feat), who was named OPSWA DI state Player of the Year. She averaged 28.8 PPG and 8 RPG for the tradition-rich Canton McKinley Bulldogs from the Federal League.
Madison Greene – 5’7 Guard – Pickerington Central
Unfortunately for Ohio State fans, they will be seeing a lot of Madison over the next four years as she continues her career in the Big 10 at Penn State. Greene – a state champion in 2017-2018 – led her team to the state finals again this year after averaging 16 PPG, 6 RPG, 6 APG and 4 SPG. She was named to the OPSWA DI 1st Team for the second consecutive season.
Samantha Whiteman – 5’7 Guard – Covington
Whiteman was named OPSWA DIV state Player of the Year with season averages of 24.8 PPG, 7.0 RPG and 3.5 APG for the Covington Buccaneers. Samantha scored over 2000 career points and will continue her career at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee.
2nd Team:
Constance Chaplin – 5’9 Guard – Euclid
Chaplin not only finished her senior year as one of Ohio’s top scorers at 29 PPG, but also added 12 rebounds and 4 assists each night. The Eastern Michigan recruit was named to the OPSWA DI All-Ohio 1st Team after leading her team to a district championship game appearance – one in which she scored 19 points and pulled down 18 rebounds against a tough Eastlake North squad.

Another McDonald’s All-American, Puisis was one of the top shooters in Ohio. At 6’1 with walk-in-the-gym range and a high release, Sammie had no problem getting her shot off in big games. A 1st Team All-Ohio selection in DI by the OPSWA, Puisis averaged 17.5 points and nearly 7 rebounds per game. She is headed to Florida State.
Destiny Bohanon – 5’9 Forward – Huber Heights Wayne
Bohanon – a Dayton commit – stuffed the stat-sheet this year with averages of 15.1 PPG, 3.5 RPG, 4.1 APG and 3.3 SPG , while shooting 83% from the FT line, 52% from the field and 39% from 3-point range. She was named to the OPSWA 1st Team in DI and finished as Wayne’s all-time leader in assists and steals.
Jala Johnson – 5’8 Guard – Toledo Notre Dame
Johnson – who scored over 16 PPG while leading her team to the DI State Final 4 – was a tenacious defender who more often than not was at the top of her team’s press. After making the switch to PG tHIS season, she was named Player of the Year in the Northwest District and also earned 1st Team All-Ohio honors from the OPSWA. She will be continuing her basketball career at Loyola-Chicago.

Marshall and her HS teammates were the last ones standing this year in Ohio’s big school division, as they defeated Pickerington Central in the DI State Championship game. Over Marshall’s 4 years at MND, her teams compiled a 93-15 record and won 3 GCL titles – in addition to 2 state championships. Gabbie averaged 13.7 PPG this year as the lead guard for Mount Notre Dame’s balanced offensive attack. She was chosen to the All-Ohio 1st Team by the OPSWA and will be continuing her career at Iowa.
3rd Team:
Dayshanette Harris is one of Ohio’s all-time leading scorers. She will be playing her college ball at the University of Pittsburgh. (Photo Credit: Youngstown Vindicator)Dayshanette Harris – 5’7 Guard – Youngstown Ursuline
From the moment that she began her HS career in Youngstown, Harris has been one of Ohio’s most prolific scorers. With an average this year of 28.3 PPG, the Pittsburgh bound Harris led her team to the District Championship game and was named to the All-Ohio 1st Team in DII by the OPSWA. She finished her career as Mahoning County’s all-time leading scorer with 2428 career points.
Peyton Scott – 5’8 Guard – Lynchburg Clay
Scott was a double-double machine this season, averaging 26.4 PPG and over 11 RPG. The Miami (OH) recruit finished her career as her school’s all-time leading scorer with 2175 points. She was a 1st Team All-Ohio selection in DIII.
Maliya Perry – 5’11 Forward – Pickerington Central
If it’s possible for a DI 2nd Team All-Ohio selection and future Auburn Tiger to be underrated – that was the case with Pickerington Central’s Maliya Perry. One of the state’s ultimate “match-up nightmares” Perry was a relentless scorer and rebounder. Her all-around game was on display this year as she averaged 15 PPG, 8 RPG and 4 APG on her team’s trip to the state championship game.
Rachel Murray – 5’6 Guard – Waynesville
After being named to the DIII 1st Team by the OPSWA – Murray graduates as a rare 4-time All-Ohio selection. She led her Waynesville team to an outstanding 27-1 season on their way to the state championship game, where they nearly upset nationally-ranked Columbus Africentric. Rachel averaged 20 PPG this season and finished her career with over 1700 tallies.

As part of one of Ohio’s top girls basketball classes ever, Morris may have put up the most staggering numbers of all this season. She averaged over 27 PPG and 21 RPG. Her rebounding exploits helped her finish as Ohio’s all-time leading rebounder with over 1700 career boards. The Quinnipiac recruit was a 1st Team selection to the OPSWA DII All-Ohio squad.
