At 5’8, Hamilton is known for her speed and quickness and likes to push the ball in transition. She sees the floor well and can make plays for others in transition.
She says this year was a special season for her and her team, and says the team enjoyed its success through hard work.
“Out of my three years this has definitely been my favorite year of basketball, our team is really something special,” Hamilton said. “I think we found success through our raw hard work — we had a purpose everyday at practice and worked really well together. We pushed each other to be the best every single day.
“Everyone has their own role on our team and I think this season I’ve really realized that it’s my job to control the floor and handle the ball for my my team. driving the ball to the rim and taking shots when I need to have been my focus this season.”
Hamilton says her dad has had the biggest influence on her basketball career to date.
“He played college ball and has coached me since I was little,” she said. “He taught me the game since the beginning at kindergarten rec basketball all the way up to talking to me after high school games and suggesting things I need to work on.”
A fan of college basketball, Hamilton says one of her favorite times of year in the NCAA Tournament and March Madness.
“College basketball is so fun to watch because all those guys play so fast and so hard,” she says. “The game is so quick, and I love playing like that too.”
Hamilton is committed to the University of Kansas to play softball. In January of her sophomore year she committed to Valparaiso University for softball, but this past fall the opportunity to play for Kansas came up and Hamilton says she couldn’t pass up the opportunity.
