Now, as she heads into her final spring and summer ahead of her senior season, she’s looking to continue and sharpen her point guard skill-set.
“My skill set and strengths I believe are being a good ball-handler, having good court awareness, the ability to drive the ball strong to the basket and just being an overall leader on the court,” said Bartholomew. “Also being an above average defender.”
She added: “I feel like I need to work on my foot speed this spring and summer along with being more aggressive offensively, and working on the 3-point shot and the mid-range pull up.”
As a junior with the Warriors, Bartholomew averaged 8.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists. She boasted one of the better assists to turnover ratios (2.3) in the state.
“We had a very good season my junior year at Van Buren, reaching the Substate final and finishing 21-3. I’ve been the point guard since my freshman year and as my high school Coach says “the coach on the court,” said Bartholomew.
Now, she’s headed into a 17U spring with Martin Bros 2020 and says although her squad will have a new look, it will be a high-level unit.
“My goals this AAU season are to become a better overall player and play at a high level. It’s basically a new team this season but as soon as we gel together this Lady Martin Bros 2020 team has the chance to be very good, and I’m really excited for it,” said Bartholomew, who mentioned some recruitment goals.
“I have had some interest from NAIA and Division III schools. My goal is to play college basketball and I just want to find the right fit for me no matter what level.”
