Washington’s class of 2019 has a long list of talented ball players and 23 of them will be playing at a D1 school in the fall. Below are 6 student-athletes to be sure to track at the next level!
D1 Bound, part 3:
2019 6’0 SG/SF Belle Frazier (Peninsula HS) – The versatile, skilled wing player will be taking her patent mid range pull up to Portland State University. PSU is coming off a record season and Belle will need to contribute to help make up for the loss of an outstanding senior class. She will provide a good scoring punch, with a college-ready offensive skill set.
2019 5’10 SF Tomekia Whitman (Central Valley HS) – One of the state’s best all around athletes with her quick twitch muscles and jumping ability. Idaho State University will be getting a high level rebounder, defender and slasher on the offensive end.
2019 5’7 PG Ashlee Maldonado (Sunnyside HS) – One of the state’s premier point guards will join Santa Clara University’s squad of the West Coast Conference. Santa Clara will be getting a high IQ point guard with the ability to get her own shot off. She makes solid read in pick and roll situations and she does not back down from taller players.
2019 5’8 G Aspyn Adams (Mt. Spokane HS) – The state’s record setting three point shooter is headed off to Loyala Marymount University following graduation. Aspyn is a high IQ basketball player that understands time, score and possession. She will instantly help LMU space the floor and she can be a designated zone buster at the next level as well.
2019 6’3 PF Erika Brumfield (W.F. West) – Despite missing out on her season due to a knee injury, Portland State University should still be very excited about getting one of the best bigs in Washington. Erika is a good athlete that can provide rim protection at 6’3, but she has enough lateral mobility to defend shorter players too. I expect she will make a strong recovery and be an impact player in her career at Portland State.
2019 6’1 PF Beyonce Bea (Washougal HS) – Beyonce put together one of the best senior seasons out of any big in the state of Washington. The 2A state champion and MVP notched 30 points, 15 rebounds, and three blocked shots in the title game. She was consistently dominant at the 2A level and the University of Idaho definitely got a good one!
