A 5’11” Guard/Forward, Miyah Brown can really do it all. She has a terrific combination of speed, strength, and athleticism that allow her to dominate nearly every time she’s on the court.
A force with the ball in her hands, Miyah handles it well with quickness in traffic. She thrives in transition, and it’s tough to find a player who can match-up well with her in the half-court.
What Miyah has going for her most right now is that she’s a complete player. She is very strong and athletic and is a play-maker in the open court. She is very smart and mature for her age, and overall just knows the game very well. As good as she is on offense, she also takes pride in being a lock-down defender, which she also excels at.
As dominant as she is in the lane, the three-point and mid-range shots are what she’s looking to improve most on this AAU season with the Rockford Heat Elite 17U team. She has a good looking shot from deep, but once she gets the pull-up jumpers and floaters down, she has the chance to be an elite ball player.
What is going on in recruiting?
Miyah currently holds one offer from Illinois State, but has a ton of D1 interest already. Arizona State, DePaul, Auburn, Creighton, and Princeton have all shown interest, among others. Other than ISU, Auburn and Creighton have been the ones to show the most interest so far. Miyah and family are in the process of scheduling visits to various schools this summer to check out the campus and basketball programs.
The Rockford Heat will play a big schedule against a lot of good teams this year, so I look for those offers to start coming in at a higher pace. Miyah is definitely a player to be keeping tabs on in Illinois.
