Below I highlight the top five players on the All Iowa Attack squad that I saw from their afternoon contest. With the live event in Ames not beginning until tomorrow I was able to catch the game on Baller TV. All Iowa Attack won the game 67-38. Look for the second game recap to come out a little later tonight.
Caitlin Clark – 5’11 PG – Dowling Catholic
Clark was really good in this one pretty much the entire game. I thought that she was passing the ball around and moving it a lot more than usual and that just opens up her game so much. She started off the game by nailing a volleyball line 3-pointer and then on the next trip got fouled on a shot behind the arc. Clark was getting to the rim, scoring the ball, shooting the ball, and passing it at a high level today. Really loved her game and thought this was the most complete performance that I have seen from her.
Shateah Wetering – 5’11 W – Montezuma
I’ll admit that I wasn’t super high on Wetering when I first saw her but she just keeps getting better and better and is definitely one of the top players in the 2020 class in Iowa. She’s just so fluid with the ball in her hands and is starting to refine her jumper a bit. What stuck out to me today was her ability to run the floor and score on rim runs as well as her defensive ability. Wetering is just such a high motor player that her defensive ability is top notch as well. She played really, really good on ball defense today and grabbed a couple steals and blocks. Committed to Iowa.
Kylie Feuerbach – 6′ SG – Sycamore (IL)
The more I watch Feuerbach, the more that I think she’s going to be such a solid player at Iowa State. She’s a really good shooter and can get hot quickly and rip off shots. I really like her command of the basketball and handling ability. I think that she’s a little overlooked over in Illinois as she’s their fifth ranked prospect. Feuerbach is a player who is versatile on the offensive end of the ball but also gets it done on the other side as well. She’s a very important player to this All Iowa Attack team and every time on the floor she performs at a high level. Committed to Iowa State.
Maya Gyamfi – 6’1 F – Urbandale
Gyamfi wasn’t really that active on the offensive end in the first game of the day but she was crazy good on defense. She pretty much locked down the paint and for them and was able to pretty much dissuade everyone from coming into the paint. She has offense to her game, just wasn’t really able to show it in the style that they played today. Gyamfi is a stock riser this summer and her recruiting is going to start seeing an uptick soon.
Aubrey Joens – 5’9 SG – Iowa City High
Joens took a while to get going and the first thing that I noticed out of her game was a steal and bucket at the other end. This is a player that just does everything well and is starting to really put it together and get to her ceiling. With that being said, she’s been really, really good for a long time but is starting to really tap into her potential. She’s already committed to Iowa State and with join Feuerbach to create an insane tandem. Her sister Ashley is a current freshman at Iowa State. Committed to Iowa State.
