It’s a Friday through Sunday event so I spent a few hours on Saturday at the Meadowbrook Athletic Complex which features four courts. The competition wasn’t the best and it was annoying having to navigate around the boys games, but I caught a few ballers in action. These are the players that stood out to me…
McKenna Eddings, 2021, Team Loaded-Bland
McKenna was my favorite player from this event. She is a 5’9 wing with the best hair I’ve seen so far in this young club season. Ms. Eddings is a smooth operator who is blessed with a sweet jumper. She hit mid range pull ups and long bombs. She has a slick handle that allowed her to create space when needed and she has a nice touch around the rim. She’s also and active defender and willing rebounder. My money says she will light up the Adidas Gauntlet this summer.
Alia Carmichael, 2021, Team Loaded
Alia is a lefty with a strong motor. She is a terror in transition and got into the paint at will as her team was dominating in the game I watched. Her handles are strong and she uses her body well to finish through contact. She is finishing her sophomore season at Stafford High in Virginia.
Natalia Collier, 2021, Team Loaded
Another Team Loaded lefty with a ton of defensive potential. She is a very strong and physical athlete with a solid handle. She can shoot, as she showed off a nice long ball and some mid range pull ups. She explodes around the rim. I would like to see her use her tools to become a lock down defender. I’ll be looking to follow her this summer if possible.
Caly Cage, 2022, MetroBall
Caly is a quick and explosive point guard from Rock Creek Christian Academy. I’m not familiar with this Metroball outfit but Caly caught my eye with her quick release and feathery touch from deep and off the dribble. I could not watch the entire game but from what I saw she was very impressive. This is another one I’ll be looking to follow.
Electra Allembert, 2022, Power Move
Electra is a 6’1 post with good finishing skills. She was solid inside displaying good hands and a soft touch around the rim. She just completed her first season at New Hope Academy. She has range out to the 3 point line so I’m expecting her offensive game to continue to emerge this summer.
