Top 3 Teams
Shadow Mountain (Last Year Ranking: #1)
Shadow Mountain is my top pick for State Title contender. I think it is very likely that they will repeat this season. Shadow Mountain is bringing back all of their starters from last season: Senya Rabouin, Heavenly Greer, Zhane Jordan, Dyamond Butler-Worley, and Sissy Paloma. They are a totally complete team with all of these girls bringing their own set of skills to the team. They have great play making with Rabouin and Paloma, both of whom are very much capable of scoring. They have a lot of toughness and size with Jordan, Butler-Worley, and Greer. They can score inside or outside and are really fun to watch in transition. I predict Shadow Mountain repeats this season!
Seton Catholic Prep (Last Year Ranking: #2)
Seton Catholic had a terrific season and made it all the way to the State Championship game. I think they have a solid chance of making it back to the State Final Game but I think Shadow Mountain has too much to handle. However, Seton Catholic has some promising young talent. Bella DiGiovanni, Sasha Daniels, Lee Lee Willis, and Amanda Barcello all had big roles on the team last year and are all either freshman or sophomores. This bunch will be very good for years to come.
Sahuaro (Last Year Ranking: #4)
Sahuaro also had a great season and they made it to the Final Four, however their State Title dreams were denied by Shadow Mountain. Sahuaro is bringing back two very talented players in Alyssa Brown and Alyssa Franke. Both can score the ball in bunches, Brown averaged 24 points per game while Franke averaged 17 points per game. I like the pairing of these two, Brown being more of a slasher and Franke being a knock down shooter. If these two get hot in the playoffs, I see no reason why they could not contend for a State Championship.
