The Top 3 Teams
There is plenty of talent and great teams in 6A but I think there are 3 teams that really have a shot at winning the state championship next season.
Hamilton Huskies (Last Year Rank: #1)
I think the Hamilton Huskies have a great chance of repeating this season. Last season, they beat Xavier Prep by 12 in the State Championship. They aren’t losing a lot from last year’s team, only having 4 seniors on the roster. 3 of the seniors played in nearly every game but two of which only averaged 3 points per game and the other averaged 7. The fourth senior played in only 5 games. Hamilton is bringing back Victoria Davis, who is one of the top guards in her class, and two 6’1 players in Zakiirah King and Raegan Farrington.
Pinnacle Pioneers (Last Year Rank: #4)
Pinnacle lost by 7 points to the eventual State Champions, Hamilton, in the Semifinals of last year’s playoffs. While Hamilton will certainly still be a threat, I think the biggest team you need to look out for is Pinnacle. I really like the dynamic duo of Aly Stedman and Kennedy Basham. Both are very young and have shown a lot of potential. Basham was super impressive, making an immediate impact as a freshman last season. She’s only going to get bigger, better, and stronger. Watch out for the Pinnacle Pioneers.
Valley Vista Monsoon (Last Year Rank: #6)
Speaking of freshman who made an immediate impact, let’s take a look at Jennah Isai. She had an incredible season averaging 18 points, 2 assists, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals per game. Combine Isai’s great talent and skill with the youth of that Valley Vista team and I think you have a state title contender. The Monsoons are only losing 1 player this season, as they only had 1 senior on the roster. The majority of their team that led them to the final 4 will all be back in action this season.
