Grassroots Preview: Indiana Bears 17U
The Indiana Bears aren’t as much of a program as they are an individual team that has existed over the last couple of seasons. The team is representative of high school programs and players in the Delaware and Randolph County area, or in other words the Muncie area. They have several really nice high school basketball players and are organized by Mr. Doug Bolton.

Overview: This group lacks much size, but there are some really nice guards here. Elizabeth Reece led Yorktown in scoring this year at 14.7 points per game. She is also a really good perimeter shooter with speed and quickness, and she moves well without the basketball. Honestly, Hannah Bolton could be described fairly similarly to Reece. Hannah was a 16 point-per-game kid, but she can and has taken over a lot more ball-handling responsibility. She is also a very good perimeter shooter who can get hot quickly. Gabby Beckham is the lone kid they have with much size, and she is a wiry strong mid-post forward with good athleticism. She plays with a motor and is productive inside of 15-feet. And Izabella Mitchell is another player who I think is under-recruited. She has won just six games in her three seasons at Wes-Del, but she has little help around her. She is a reasonably strong wing who can create, finish inside, rebound, and hit shots out on the floor when open and in rhythm. I think this is a team with a gem or two who small colleges would appreciate watching/following.
