I had included Mickayla Perdue in my Western PA Bruins Tipoff Classic coverage, and I spoke with coach Travis Trice and today I will look at the remainder of the kids in the PGH coverage area.
Mickayla Perdue- this Springfield Ohio guard continues to show why she is one of the best players in the Buckeye state. Not sure anyone has worked as hard in the short off season. She has improved at every facet of her game, as she has gotten better with her shooting, her handles, finishing and has increased her range. She has a great basketball IQ and not only can she score in bunches, but her competitive spirit sets her apart.
Strong around the rim and can finish with contact. Every game, this kid just brings it!
Grace Hutson- the lone Virginia player on the roster is going to open some eyes this summer with her ability to shoot the rock. Coach Trice calls her one of the best pure shooters he has ever seen with great rotation and legit range to 25′. A gritty defender and very good rebounder for a guard. She is a player who will catch the attention of college coaches this summer.
Elise Ellison-Coons- again, she is the only Kentucky player on this roster, Elise is also a very good shooter from the three, but can put it on the floor and pull up from 15′. Her recruiting will go crazy this summer because she can score it at a high level. She is a ferocious comeptitor, averaged a double-double last year in high school. Great frame and not afraid to use it.
Jocelyn Tate- a former high school state champ, Tate plays with a ferocity that can’t be taught. Plays much bigger than she is, and has great hands, along with being an above average passer. Very high basketball IQ, finishes well especially with her left. Her versatility defensively should make her intriguing to college coaches.
Kendall Hale- great shooter, defends the wing at a high level and rebounds extremely well for a guard. Finishes with either hand around the rim. Quietly gets the job done. Her offensive skill set with the ball is high. She missed last summer with an injury, but she will be ready to go this year. Playing with a lot of confidence.
Alyssa Hall- very high motor and IQ. One of the best wing defenders that coaches will see this summer. One of the most versatile players who can guard and play offensively in mulitple positions. Very underrated three shooter, and has bery active hands defensively. She can do everything and play any position.
Kendall Folley- proven leader with exceptional handles and court vision. Extremely coachable with an above average IQ on the court. Does a great job pressuring the ball on defense, and is great an deflections and steals. Finishes at a high rate in the paint despite her size.
