Alyssa Brown 6’1 F AZ Supreme/Sahuaro 2021
Alyssa Brown is a fearless monster on the basketball court. Every time she gets the ball, she just puts her shoulder down and drives to the bucket with fury. She lives at the free throw line because she is simply tough enough to battle with anyone and make them commit fouls by going into their body. She has a very soft touch around the rim and can handle the ball a bit. She is also a great shot blocker!
Ali Zelaya 6’4 F AZ Elite/Millennium 2020
Ali Zelaya may have had the best footwork of the tournament. You give the ball to this girl on the block, it’s a bucket nearly every time. She has a lot of different post moves that she likes to utilize. Zelaya does a lot of things right on the basketball court but her footwork will probably always be my favorite aspect of her game.
Dyamond Butler-Worley 6’0 F I-10 Celtics/Shadow Mountain 2020
If you’re a college coach who needs toughness on their squad, stop reading this article and contact Butler-Worley. She is the personification of the word toughness. She battles for every board with so much passion, is constantly talking on defense, and drives to the basket as strong as anybody. She showed some versatility to her game today as well, knocking down a few 3’s.
Zhane Jordan 5’10 F I-10 Celtics/Shadow Mountain 2021
Jordan can be a lot like her teammate Butler-Worley. She has flashes where she looks like her teammate but doesn’t keep that attitude the whole game. However, she is younger and has time to develop that attitude that allows you to be a bully on the court. I will say that she does has more scoring capability than her teammate and I would say she’s a little better of a shooter as well.
Jess Finney 5’10 F Arizona Select/Chaparral 2021
Speaking of shooters, look at Jess Finney! She is dangerous from the wing spot. Her team runs her off of a lot of screens, trying to get her an open look for three. If she gets a clean look from deep, it’s going in no matter how many defenders are there. You can’t let Finney catch the ball in rhythm or it’s going in all day long.
Haylee Weathersby 6’1 F BSP/Apollo 2021
Haylee Weathersby got into her own rhythm today! She had a stretch in a game where she scored 4 times in a row, two of which were 3’s. This is not the only reason she makes the list, as she was solid all tournament long, but that impressive scoring outburst definitely helps. I really liker her build and game actually. She has the size of a traditional big but obviously can shoot it like a stretch 4. That allows her to contribute heavily on the glass and in their offense.
