This brought together a host of in state programs as well as some top out of state teams. I saw teams from Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Minnesota perform at a high level. To recap the event, as I was only able to stay for Saturday, I will be putting together lists of the top players that I saw, regardless of class, over the next few days. To start it off, here are my top five overall performers from the weekend.
Emma Ronsiek – 6’1 W/PF – 2020 – O’Gorman HS (SD) – SD Attack 2020
I saw Ronsiek play twice this weekend and both times she impressed me. She does a lot of different things on the floor, and does a lot of them really well. Most impressively she runs the floor extremely well. Ronsiek uses her length to create turnovers and can push the ball up the floor if she needs. She was a little shaky shooting the ball early, but settled in nicely. While being a wing, she has the ability to play on the ball in stretches offensively. She’s a prototypical do-it-all player who is going to flourish at the next level with her versatility. Committed to Creighton University.
Caitlin Clark – 5’11 PG – 2020 – Dowling Catholic HS (IN) – All Iowa Attack EYBL 2020
Clark is one of the top prospects in the nation, and for good reason. I saw her play the All Iowa Attack 2021 EYBL team and while it was a great game, Clark really stood out. She creates space really well to get her shot off and doesn’t need much. Clark is a player who can heat up very quickly shooting the ball. Her ability to get to the rim and dish the ball stands out as well. Vocal leader on the floor who plays with an edge. I still think that she needs to get teammates involved a little bit better which would open up her game even more. Clark is a top prospect and plays like it every single time.
Hannah Stuelke – 6’1 W/PF – 2022 – CR Washington HS (IA) – All Iowa Attack EYBL 2021
This was my first time seeing Stuelke and she did not disappoint. She’s a fluid wing with length. Her athleticism is going to allow her to be very versatile. She is an impact player on both ends of the court. Her ability to get to the rim this weekend was on full display. She has the potential to be a very top end player in college, and she is already showing why. This past high school season she played really well, but I expect her to take it to another level this summer. She’s a treat to watch and has a little bit more room to grow even still. Committed to Iowa University.
Rianna Fillipi – 5’8 PG – 2020 – Lennox (SD) – SD Attack 2020
Fillipi was very impressive this past weekend with her floor management and defensive prowess. She has a solid frame and is built strong. Fillipi is someone who can be elite on both ends of the floor. Her court vision and ability to drive and dish is going to be a solid trait at the next level. She doesn’t seem to overdribble into traffic and knows when to get rid of the ball. Packs some offense prowess and shooting ability. Should be a solid contributor for four years at the next level. Committed to Northern State University.
Macy Gaskill – 5’6 PG – 2021 – Urbandale (IA) – All Iowa Attack National 2021
Maybe the biggest surprise of the weekend was Gaskill. Buried on a guard heavy Urbandale team this past year, she didn’t get a ton of run. This weekend she looked the part of a high level guard. She was spectacular on the ball and looked comfortable with the ball in her hand. Gaskill has a huge motor and was diving on the floor for all of the loose balls. I think this upcoming year is going to be huge for her. Her ability to score and her handling is going to make a school very happy one day.
