Native’s With Talent (NWT) team took the Championship of the Girls Gold Division. Some outstanding players that showed out at this event were:
1. Mackenzie Shivers class of 2022 (Mesa High School) This talented player can GO! A walking bucket. Would best describe her Game. A quick and shifty Guard who stands out from the rest with her explosiveness to the rim. Having her presence known the whole game, being very aggressive, and a great teammate, shows that she’s a GREAT LEADER. One of the Top Sophomore’s in the State this year and it shows. Shivers lead her NWT-team to a victory in the Championship Game against a solid Hoop Dreamz team.
2. Keylee Kaye class of 2020 (TBD) Plays for a solid Run n Gun team. A floor general. Her penetration to the basket helps creates for her teammates for an easy bucket. Kaye showed her limitless range game from behind the arc. An experience leader, Kaye has the all-around offensive game that coaches crave for. She will burn you from pretty much anywhere, in transition or a half court set. It will be interesting to see what school she will play for her Senior year. Whoever it will be, consider yourself lucky.
3. Kymani Bledsoe class of 2022 (ASU Preparatory Academy) Her size, explosiveness and agility that makes her impossible to defend on the court. Bledsoe has a smooth demeanor, versatile skill set, scoring consistently around the rim, and she has the ability to play multiple positions (3-5). Kymani played a big role in helping her NWT squad win the Championship this past weekend.
4. Liz Cruz class of 2020 (Casteel High School) A force to be reckon with in the paint. Cruz plays for a solid club program Team Arizona. Her efficiency in terms of scoring is outrageous. She rarely misses around the basket and can hit a jumper better than most guards. Cruz’s combination of size, athletic ability, power, the skill level that she has is intimidating. She’s a tough player, can defend and can score on just about anybody.
5. Alaya Fitzgerald class of 2021 (Mesquite High School) She plays BIG despite her size. She can hit from inside and outside the three. When she gets on a roll it’s hard to stop her. Alaya has a high level of energy. Her size as a bigger guard she is able to attack the basket, and beat you in a number of ways. Defensively she just accepts every challenge on the floor, whether its’s guarding the leading scorer guard or a big kid she will accept that challenge. Such a play maker for Team Arizona.
