From what I enjoyed seeing during the first day of the April 13-14 MAYB Exposure – Hall of Fame Showcase the 6’0″ junior will be accelerating up our currently listed 2020 player rankings.
Mayfield’s totals of ten points and five rebounds for the two games may not be eye catching but a great deal of what she contributes to her team does not show up in the stats columns. When asked what her biggest strength is in her game she quickly answered, “definitely my defense.” She also stated that she adds versatility to a team and I was able to see why. She has the quickness to defend on the wing and the length to defend opposing post players and challenge bigger wings.
Katera Mayfield of Ohlde Elite 2020 Pink boxes out in a game against Kansas United Soyez 2022.While she showed solid ball handling skills to run the break and finish in transition, she also showed the athleticism to slash through the middle of the lane and get a layup against a strong challenge. For the summer her goal is to continue improving and diversifying her offensive game to make her more versatile.
University of Missouri-Kansas City has found itself a commit with great deal of upside who is putting in the work this summer to get better by playing with and against very talented players.
Note: This is a correction from a previous version that implied Mayfield had played the entire 2018-19 season at Topeka Seaman when in actuality she was with the program for a few games at the beginning of the season.
