Mia Davis in High School
Mia Davis put on a show all tournament long. She was scoring at will and playing great defense. She has the size and skill to hold her own against anyone, but wait…she’s in 8th grade! It is pretty safe to say that Mia Davis is going to be a problem next year once she enrolls in high school. Whatever school she attends should instantly see an increase in their success next season. I think she is going to make an immediate impact both individually and for her team success.
Arizona Select Looking Top Notch
Arizona Select looked like the best overall organization in AZ this weekend. They won multiple championships at various age groups. Their 17U Black team looked especially good, winning the 17U Gold bracket. They had a really impressive win over the I-10 Celtics. Everyone said, this is the game to watch! This is going to be the best game of the tournament. AZ Select ended up blowing them out by 30+. They have a lot of young talent on their absolutely stacked roster and I think they will continue to dominate throughout the summer.
Tucson Represented Well
Arizona Supreme made it all the way to the finals of the 17U Gold bracket and lost by 2 points to Arizona Select. Personally, I always feel like Tucson is looked at as less than. I feel like most people value phoenix players and teams over Tucson players and teams. AZ Supreme represented Tucson very well, having all players from Tucson and making it to the championship. Being from Tucson, I love seeing that! Tucson has a lot of talent that is often overlooked because they don’t live in the big city of Phoenix. Good job AZ Supreme! Keep representing Tucson talent!
