Top teams from the Midwest braved the weather in Milwaukee and produced some high-quality basketball games. Here are some of the top players I noticed in the 2022 and 2023 classes.
Elise Heneghan (Chicago Power) – A 6’0” Freshman from Fenwick High School, Heneghan is strong in the post and possesses a number of different moves to get by her defender for open looks at the hoop. She also handles the ball exceptionally well for a post player. Plus free throw shooter.
Brianna Wooldridge (Hustle 16 Red) – One of the strongest players I saw this weekend, Wooldridge is a force in the post. Her combination of strength and good footwork in down low allow her to get to the rim at will. The 6’2” Freshman from Fremd has great touch and is starting to develop an outside shot that would really take her game to another level.
Jordan Wood (Midwest Elite 15 Dunner) – An incoming Freshman next Fall at Carmel Catholic High School, Wood ranks near the top of the 2023 class. At 6’3”, Wood can play all five spots on the court and excel at each. Her height gives her an edge, but her shooting and ball handling skills can take her to an elite level.
Claire Hyde (Midwest Elite 15 Dunner) – The 5’5” Freshman Guard from Wheaton North plays mostly at the Point position and can score in a number of ways. Hyde moves quickly with the ball and can get past defenders with ease. Also can knock down shots from three.
Emily Fisher ( Wolverinas 15) – Fisher is a 5’11” incoming Freshman Guard/Forward at Libertyville High School who can score at all three levels. She is a very mature player for her age and has the strength to dominate in the lane.
Faith Feuerbach (The Truth 16 Silver) – A 2022 Guard/Forward at Sycamore High School, Feuerbach is a very intriguing prospect already. The 6’0” athlete can shoot the three well and uses her size to score and rebound well in the paint.
Kenzie Hare (The Truth 16 Silver) – One of many high-quality Guards on the Truth 16 Silver team, Hare showcased her ability to shoot lights-out from three over the weekend. The 5’9” Freshman at Bartlett High School runs the floor well in transition and knows how to get open so her teammates can set her up.
Katy Eidle ( Wolverinas 15) – The 5’9” incoming Freshman at Hersey High School can play the 1-3 spots successfully with her ball-handling skills and ability to score. Eidle is a plus shooter and really excels at driving and scoring at the hoop.
