After a whole month of some high intensity AAU ball, we thought it was time for the rankings to get a much needed touch up. You will see some players make their debut on the list, some players greatly rise, and some players consequentially fall. I would like to update our rankings every month to keep a more accurate and comprehensive ranking. Here are the biggest movers and shakers in the class of 2020 for the forward position.
#6 Overall Dyamond Butler-Worley 6’0 F Shadow Mountain (Previous Ranking: 8)
Dyamond Butler-Worley has slightly risen in our rankings. While the jump is small, it puts her on the cusp of the top 5. She is one of my favorite prospects in the class of 2020 due to her versatility. With more success and improvement throughout the summer, who knows…she might rise even higher.
#21 Overall Dustee Murrell 5’10 F Copper Canyon (Previous Ranking: 25)
Dustee Murrell has also risen a little bit in our rankings. This is mainly due to her incredible shooting ability. The only reason she did not move higher up the rankings is because I still think she has a lot of room for improvement. She is still a little shaky handling the ball. As of right now, she is pretty much just a spot up shooter. However, that shooting ability is elite.
#22 Overall Sophie Gerber 5’10 F Desert Mountain (Previous Ranking: N/a)
Sophie Gerber is new to the list! When we made our first initial rankings, I had not heard of Gerber. When the rankings came out, I had a lot of coaches contacting me saying I needed to check out some girls, Gerber was not one of those players. Maybe I found a diamond in the rough? Either way, Gerber can play! She is super versatile at the 4 spot due to her size and shooting ability.
#29 Overall Bella Hamel 5’10 F Ironwood Ridge (Previous Ranking: 62)
Bella Hamel is by far the biggest stock riser in the 2020 class, especially for forwards. I had seen Hamel play well before PGH AZ was formed, due to me being an assistant coach at Ironwood Ridge when I began my coaching career, but I think I greatly underestimated her abilities. She looked very solid so far this summer and looks much improved from the last time I had seen her.
