Entering her Freshman year at Carmel Catholic, Jordan is playing AAU with the Midwest Elite 15U squad in high level tournaments. When asked how the season was going, Jordan said “So far I think it has been good. We just have to play more as a team and together, but that will come with more bonding. We’ve only played in a couple tournaments so far, so its still early on for us.”
Jordan is a 6’4’’ athlete that can play at any spot on the court with success. Her length and height allow her to dominate the glass and get easy put-backs, and her smooth form gives her a consistent shot from deep.
As far as what she sees as strengths in her game, Jordan says “I’m a very talkative person and I just help get people open. I feel like I can drive on smaller defenders and shoot over bigger defenders, so it just varies depending on the game.”
Often when you watch a 6’4’’ eighth-grader, you don’t see the ball-handling skills that Jordan possesses. While her AAU team does have several talented Guards, she is able to take rebounds or outlet passes to the other end of the court with control and quickness.
When asked what she is trying to improve on this AAU season, Jordan said “Definitely ball-handling. Some people have said that my ball-handling is very good for me height, but I want it to be where its just amazing in general.”
With the role models that Jordan has by her side, I don’t see her settling on any aspect of her game.
What’s going on in recruiting?
“We have recent interest from Marquette, DePaul, and Xavier among several others. Illinois recently offered me. We took a visit to Northwestern for an unofficial and plan on visiting Illinois later this summer, and then just take things forward from there.”
Being such a talented player with great intangibles, Jordan is sure to catch the eyes of many college coaches. She already has serious Big Ten interest and hasn’t played a second of High School basketball yet. What makes her stand out even more, and will surely add to her success, is the maturity and humbleness that she shows on and off the court. Make sure to keep tabs on Jordan Wood.
