Dallas, Texas was the destination and the gym was absolutely loaded with talent for colleges of all levels and mostly Division 1s. Every court had dozens and dozens of Division 1 coaches looking to solidify themselves in yet another year of the recruiting game. In a two part series, we will name drop a handful of players that stood out in the games that Prep Girls Hoops watched!
Gauntlet Standouts, Part 1:
2020 5’9 G Sydney Watkins (Indiana Elite Thunder) – One of the most explosive players in the Gauntlet from the guard position. Ultra quick, good in the open floor, quick hands and lateral foot speed and she displayed a 3-ball as well.
2020 6’0 SF Rachel Loobie (Indiana Elite Thunder) – Catches your eye in a second when she is on the floor. Ideal Division 1 frame for the wing position and a good athlete. She can finish with either hand in the paint. Clear cut D1 prospect. *Feature image
2020 5’9 G Maya Chandler (Indiana Elite Thunder) – Heady guard with solid basketball IQ and feel for the game. Does not appear to get too high or low during the course of the game. Solid handle that allows her to get to her spots on the floor.
2020 6’1 PF Katelyn Young (Indiana Elite Thunder) – Strong-bodied left hander out of Illinois that has range out to the 3-line. She battles in the post and is not afraid the get physical. *Murray State commit
2021 5’8 G McKenzie Hudgen (Always 100 Elite 2021) – Quick guard that really moves well without the ball. She cut hard and scored off of some back doors. Finishes with skill inside the paint.
2021 6’1 PG Cailee Crawford (New Mexico Clippers) – A tall guard with true perimeter skills. She has Division 1 athleticism and she excels in the open floor with her passing and finishing.
2020 6’1 SF Kinsley Barrington (NW Blazers Orange) – Left handed forward that competes on every single possession. She battles with bigger posts and has enough lateral foot speed to cover players shorter than her as well. Can really rebound the ball and fit into a team concept.
