Dallas, Texas was the destination and the gym was absolutely loaded with talent for colleges of all levels and mostly Division 1s. Every court had dozens and dozens of Division 1 coaches looking to solidify themselves in yet another year of the recruiting game. Here is part two of the series where we highlight players that stood out in the games that Prep Girls Hoops watched!
Gauntlet Standouts, Part 2:
2021 6’3 SF Meg Newman (Indiana Elite Platinum) – I got my first glance of Meg Newman at Indiana’s Elite Camp last summer and came away impressed. She’s only gotten better in the last year. She is a hard working forward that brings a physicality to the game that many girls are uncomfortable with. She has a solid skill set and high motor at 6’3. Maybe the thing that sets her apart the most is her undeniable confidence on the floor. She picked up offers from Indiana University and Washington State following her performance in Dallas. *Feature image
2021 5’6 PG Ashlyn Wallace (NW Blazers Orange) – Ashlyn did not disappoint in her first event playing in the platinum division. The left-handed shooter got comfortable as the event went along and started knocking down open shots and finding her rhythm. She has very good quickness and court awareness. Multiple Division 1’s are after her talents.
2021 5’11 G Talia von Oelhoffen (NW Blazers Orange) – The talk of the Gauntlet after session 1. Talia threw countless behind the back passes right on target for shooters. She played some point, 2-guard and posted up smaller defenders, getting into her patent turnaround shot.
2020 6’3 P Keeli Burton-Oliver (NW Blazers Orange) – The Arizona State commit was a regular double digit rebounding performer and posted multiple 20 plus point games as well. In the game versus Indiana Thunder, she won the matchup of the posts using her brute strength and ability to finish with either hand.
2022 6’3 SF Timea Gardiner (NWBA Platinum) – One of the top freshman in the country proved that to be true in the first session of the Gauntlet. A smooth and skilled forward, at 6’3, Gardiner is on the radar of just about every college in the country.
2020 5’11 G Jayda Noble (NW Blazers Orange) – Jayda’s stock went up after this weekend. When she is being aggressive to score, she is an absolute load to handle. As the event went along, she got her pull up shot going and she elevates as good as any guard in the country when doing so. The adidas All-American also showed off her gritty defense in the matchup with a tough Indiana Elite Thunder team. Throughout the tourney, whenever an opposing player started to get hot, Jayda was the one to cool them off.
