Players have been coming to Arizona Elite’s event from all around the country for over two decades hoping to make a name for themselves in front of college coaches and media. These are just some of the players that Prep Girls Hoops saw that helped their stock in recruitment.
Stock risers:
2020 6’0 SF Shelby Kraus (Oklahoma Lions Elite) – Long and active utility player that can do a little bit of everything. Shelby came into the event not quite as heralded as some others, but she showed that she can compete with some of the best players around. She did not score it a super high rate in the games I watched, but she also doesn’t force shots, rather letting the game come to her. That being said, she can get out and score in transition.
2021 5’11 SF Tamia Stricklin (NW Blazers Heat) – Tamia came into the event holding an offer from Eastern Washington and she only helped her recruitment after a very strong showing in Arizona. The left handed wing scored in a variety of ways and impressed colleges from multiple conferences, picking up interest in the Mountain West, Pac-12, WCC and Big Sky just days after the tourney.
2020 5’9 PG Leia Beattie (Team Fusion Elect) – The point guard out of Texas had a strong showing in Arizona. She displayed a high basketball IQ as a passer and scorer from the point guard position. She is really crafty with the ball in her hands and drained three balls all tourney long. She will pick up the interest of some smaller colleges.
2022 5’10 PG/SG Gabriela Jaquez (Troop West Black) – The younger sister of UCLA signee Jamie Jaquez is a player in her own right! Competing at the 17u national level, Gabriela fit right in with girls multiple years older than her. She has a slick handle and plays the game with a lot of confidence. Her interest from the D1 level will see a rise after the Spring Classic! *Feature image
2020 5’11 SF Kaylin Beckman (NW Blazers Fire) – Strong bodied wing player that can play some on the inside and some on the outside as well. She has a solid catch and shoot three ball and plays within herself. She picked up multiple offers over the weekend and has some D1 interest as well.
