Each day this week I will be putting out a few evaluations from that event. Today, we take a look at 12 uncommitted prospects in the 2020 class in two parts. Each part has six players in alphabetical order.
Katie Keitges — 5’8 SG — Beyond Ball 24K / Knoxville HS
Keitges is a tough nosed guard who has the ability to knock down deep shots, but also has really good body control going to the rim. I would like her to become a more consistent threat from beyond the perimeter, but she has insane range and this weekend knocked down multiple shots from five feet beyond the arc. She’s a very intriguing player and she had a great weekend at Bring Your Best.
Kendall Nead — 5’11 SF — Beyond Ball 24K / Johnston HS
Nead is one of the fastest rising players in the state, and for good reason. Since the high school season she’s gotten taller, stronger, and has added good weight to a frame that is exactly what college coaches love. She’s quick to the basket and is a mismatch nightmare. Nead is explosive enough to take guards off the dribble, but quick enough to get around posts in the paint. She needs to improve her shooting, but as a slasher she’s exactly what you look for.
Maya Gyamfi — 6’1 PF — All Iowa Attack EYBL / Urbandale HS
Gyamfi is starting to become the player that she can be. She can score at the rim really well, she plays hard, and her rebounding is starting to become more of a weapon for her. Gyamfi is a fluid athlete who moves well in the post. She has the ability to step out and guard on the perimeter where she utilizes her footwork to keep guards and wings in front of her. This is a player who will be better at the next level than people think. (Featured photo)
Molly Chmelicek — 5’9 SF — Lady Martin Brothers / Linn Mar HS
Chmelicek is a long wing who has shown a ton of improvement from the beginning of the year to now. She’ll have a much bigger role this upcoming season and should be able to show a lot of her game that she hasn’t in the past. Chmelicek is getting better scoring the ball this summer and she has upped her quickness. That allows her to score the ball at a better clip but also allows her to play better defense. Look for Chmelicek to have a breakout winter in high school.
Teagan Lipsey — 5’9 SF — All Iowa Attack Nike Carpenter / Ames HS
Lipsey is such a pure athlete that she kind of jumps out to you no matter if she is playing well or not. She is one of the best athletes in the state and because of that she is so versatile on both ends of the floor. I like her ability to affect the game on defense with ease, but she is beginning to show more offense. She’s a player who you want on your team because she’s a hard worker and understands the game.
Presley Case — 5’4 PG — Lady Martin Brothers / North Scott HS
I have long been a fan of Case’s game with her passing and change of pace ability. Case is one of the best entry passers that I have seen in high school and plays the inside-out game very well. She has great floor vision and makes everyone a threat on the floor. She will be a great player at the next level with a team of shooters around her. Case is a dynamic floor general who just knows how to win.
