Each day this week I will be putting out a few evaluations from that event. Today, we take a look at 12 uncommitted prospects in the 2022 class in two parts. Each part has six players in alphabetical order.
Allison Meadows — 5’6 PG — Lady Martin Brothers / Central DeWitt HS
Meadows was really good this past weekend making things happen. She shot the ball well and did so when college coaches were watching her. Meadows has been getting better as the summer has gone on and she is in line for a stellar sophomore campaign. Great feel for the game and knows where to go with the ball. She’s such a competitor and is starting to turn into one of the better prospects in the class.
Anna Gossling — 5’5 SG — All Iowa Attack Nike Red / Johnston HS
Gossling was much improved over the last time I saw her. She’s a very good shooter and can knock them down with the best in the state. She had a really good freshman year and is starting to improve even more. I think that she is a touch small to be a shooting guard but she shoots it off the catch really well. Dynamic player who is starting to learn how to create her shot a little better.
Aree Beckmann — 5’8 SG — Lady Martin Brothers / CR Xavier HS
Beckmann is one of my favorite players to watch. She has the prettiest jumper in the state and while it may not go down every time, you can just tell she has a ton of confidence in it. Beckmann is starting to understand how to create space for herself and is deadly coming off of screens. She is going to be the focal point of Xavier’s offense for years to come and after this season, it will be her team.
Ava Hawthorne — 5’9 PG/SG — All Iowa Attack EYBL 2021 / Gilbert HS
Hawthorne continues to cement herself as one of the top players in the state. She scores the ball well at all three levels on the floor and she also has insanely good court vision. Hawthorne doesn’t have to score the ball in order to make an impact on the game because she is the full package. I love her intensity on both ends of the floor and she’s going to turn into a player who can’t miss.
Braylee Bayless — 5’7 SG — Beyond Ball Next Up / Valley HS
Bayless is another Valley player who I am seeing for the first time this summer after being buried on a roster full of talent. She is a thin guard who is skillful, has a good feel for the game, and has a bit of toughness that you wouldn’t expect out of her. I liked how Bayless played the entire weekend and I think she can be a pretty solid contributor over the next few years.
Brooke Loewe — 5’7 PG — All Iowa Attack Nike Red / Ballard HS
Loewe has a huge season in store this upcoming year. She’s a very solid lead guard with good handles and the ability to make things happen. Loewe has a good frame and is starting to become more physical inside of 15 feet. Good foot speed allows her to push the ball quickly up the floor. This is a Ballard team that is going to be really good for the next few years and Loewe is going to be a big part of it.
