Each day this week I will be putting out a few evaluations from that event. Today, we take a look at five uncommitted prospects in the 2023 class. The players are in no certain order.
Audi Crooks — 6’1 C — CY Select Alpha / Bishop Garrigan HS
Crooks is one of the top eighth graders in the state and is just so good every single time I see her. Her footwork and touch around the rim is so good for her age. She’s going to continue to get better over the next few years and could turn into one of the better players throughout the region. Crooks is a great rebounder and simply can’t be stopped on the offensive end. She’s going to have a big impact as a freshman.
Molly Joyce — 5’6 PG — CY Select Alpha / Bishop Garrigan HS
Joyce is going to be the high school teammate of Crooks and will be a great duo for four years at Bishop Garrigan. Joyce is a quick lefty lead guard who has a quick burst to the rim. She is able to shoot the ball well when in rhythm and is starting to be able to knock shots down while moving. She has a good feel for the game and good touch while passing. Joyce is going to be a really solid guard over the next couple years.
Jena Young — 5’7 PG — All Iowa Attack Multi-Sport / Winterset HS
Young was a nice surprise his weekend playing up on a team with players from all grade levels. Honestly, she was probably the best player on that team in terms of potential and was definitely the best player in the game this weekend. She’s a nice fluid guard who packs a scoring punch. She has confidence in her shot and isn’t afraid to pull up from anywhere. She’s got the potential to be the leading freshman scorer this summer. (Featured Photo)
Liza Schaffer — 5’7 SG/PG — All Iowa Attack National / North Polk HS
Schaffer jumped out to me really quickly when I her team play. She had by far the most basketball IQ on the floor and was just flat out making plays. She’s a little quicker and a touch more wiry than her sister and they both should see extended minutes in high school next season. Defensively she is really good because she is super long and quick laterally. Schaffer has a bright future ahead of her
Finley Fitzgerald — 5’7 SF/PF — All Iowa Attack Nike Red / Woodward-Granger HS
I had heard a bit about Fitzgerald during the summer and I was excited to see her player. She’s a thick and strong forward who is quick enough to defend the wing. Fitzgerald is also quick enough to defend and play in the post too. She’s got skill there already and as she refines it over the next few years she’s going to become really good. Loads of potential in her game and it starts with her projectable frame.
