Question:
What is the biggest strength in your game?
Ella Stemmer Ella Stemmer 5'10" | SG Saline | 2021 State MI :
I would say my versatility is by biggest strength. I am a taller shooting guard and can defend any guard and even a small forward. On offense, I have the ability to post up a smaller defender or take a bigger post off the dribble.
Question:
You recently received an offer from Wayne State. How does it feel?
Ella Stemmer Ella Stemmer 5'10" | SG Saline | 2021 State MI :
It feels really good! Knowing that my hard work and time in the gym is being noticed is a great thing. The next step is working even harder so that I am truly prepared to compete at the next level.
Question:
Is there any added pressure knowing that colleges are watching?
Ella Stemmer Ella Stemmer 5'10" | SG Saline | 2021 State MI
There is a little more pressure, but I feel like I am ready for it because of all the training and exposure we have already gotten. The most important thing is to just keep getting in the gym so I feel confident and stay poised under pressure.
Question:
What has been your best moment in basketball so far?
Ella Stemmer Ella Stemmer 5'10" | SG Saline | 2021 State MI
There are just so many great moments in basketball. My favorite parts are when my team goes on a run in a close game or when we make the extra pass for a set shot and hit a big three. I also love winning a big game when we are the underdogs. For example, we were in Cincinnati last summer and we were playing a bigger and faster team with some big time players and college coaches watching. My team used our IQ of the game and hustled to pull out the win by three.
Question:
Who has been the toughest player that you’ve ever matched up with?
Ella Stemmer Ella Stemmer 5'10" | SG Saline | 2021 State MI :
There are many tough players but one name that comes to mind is Gabby Elliott. She is super quick and can stop on the dime when driving. Damiya Hagemann was another fun matchup because we were both passionate and competitive on the court.
Question:
What are your team goals for the rest of grassroots season?
Ella Stemmer Ella Stemmer 5'10" | SG Saline | 2021 State MI :
We are really working on keeping our team chemistry and moving the ball to get the great shot rather than forcing a contested shot. Also, we have played taller players so making sure to have weak side help and then recovering to help the helper.
Question:
What professional players game reminds you of your game?
Ella Stemmer Ella Stemmer 5'10" | SG Saline | 2021 State MI :
Marina Mabrey, who graduated from Notre Dame and is now playing for the LA Sparks in the WNBA, has a similar style of play to my game. What I really admire about her is the quick release of her shot; this is one of my goals. She is also a taller guard who has a lot of confidence to shoot the ball.
Question:
What is your favorite class in school? Why?
Ella Stemmer Ella Stemmer 5'10" | SG Saline | 2021 State MI :
I am taking a PLTW Human Body Systems class where we investigate functions and structures of the human body. It is really cool to see topics that we have learned in Biology and Chemistry apply to the human body.
