Some of those wings and shooters would struggle without elite point guards who set them up for the open shots. Here’s a look at some of Kentucky’s best point guards.
Maddie Scherr, Ryle – The Oregon commit is the top ranked player in the state regardless of position and a top 25-40 player nationally depending on where you look. Scherr is the front runner for 2020 Miss Basketball and could very well lead Ryle to back to back State titles.
Ally Collett, South Laurel – Another contender for the 2020 State Title, South Laurel is a high powered offense but wouldn’t be as high powered if Collett weren’t the one pushing the pace and leading the offense for the Lady Cards. She’s committed to Western Kentucky.
Destinee Marshall, Sacred Heart – Another player already committed, Marshall is off the board to Radford where she will lead the Highlanders from the point guard spot. She and the Valkyries will be another top competitor for the state crown with the return of Erin Toller.
Brooklyn Miles, Franklin County – One of the state’s top Juniors, Brooklyn recently received an offer from Matthew Mitchell and Kentucky. Miles is a big time scorer who is very shifty with the ball and knows how to distribute in addition to scoring.
Hope Sivori, Mercy – One of the bigger stock risers in the last year or so, Hope continues to impress on the AAU circuit this spring. She’s still waiting on her first D1 offer but regardless of where she lands, Hope is going to be an impact player in college with the ball in her hands.
Lauren Lee, Casey County – Lee was a big reason that Casey County made a run to the 12th region Championship game this past season. There aren’t many better in the 2020 class at getting into the paint and finishing at the rim or finding an open shooter.
Jaya McClure, CAL – Only going to be a Sophomore, Jaya is a good scorer and rebounder for her age. Especially adept at finishing around the rim, McClure is going to continue improving and can take her game another level with improved perimeter shooting.
Cassidy Rowe, Shelby Valley – The lone committed 2022 player in Kentucky, Rowe is already off the board to Kentucky and continues to improve after her return from an ACL tear previously. She only played 5 varsity games this past season but should be back at full strength this 2019-20 season.
