The 2019 class was dominating the scoring leaders list all across KHSAA. With those ladies out the door, we break down which players should be expected to be near the top of the scoring list next season. These are in No Particular Order and are not the same as class rankings.
Hailey Smith, Wolfe County – Smith gets lost in the shuffle of talented players in Kentucky but she’s really good and will be the highest returning scorer next season. Hailey averaged 26.2 points as a Junior and shot a really efficient 51% from the field, 43% from 3 and 86% from free throw, narrowly missing the prestigious 50/40/90 club.
Kendall Wingler, Meade County – She’s already over 2,000 career points and could get 3,000 before graduation. Kendall was asked to carry her Meade County team and she did just that, averaging 26 points per game and putting up 44% shooting despite being double and triple teamed by the opposition all season long.
Mya Meredith, Scott – One of the highest ranked ladies in our Junior class rankings, Meredith is capable of scoring the ball at every level and shot 56% from the field on her way to 25 points per game. As she keeps stretching her game out and becoming more confident shooting from 3, Mya could eclipse the 30 point per game mark in her Junior year.
Lexy Meyers, Leslie County – One of the finest players in the mountains, Lexy is coming off a strong Junior year and continues to show herself to be one of the top shooters in the state in the 2020 class. Making 38% of 3s while making 3.4 per game, Meyers could be one of the best players in Kentucky that no one talks about.
Charlee Settle, Calloway County – One of the best two way players in Western Kentucky, Settle recently committed to Murray State and should be really effective at that level. 44% from the field and 38% from 3 is very impressive when you consider the load she carries for the Lady Lakers.
Whitney Hay, Elizabethtown – There’s a reason that she continues to stack D1 offers and that reason is Hay is a big time scorer. She’s very efficient, scoring 22 points per game with 52/42/79 shooting splits. Before graduation, Whitney is going to be in the mix to be a top 3 player in the class in Kentucky.
