Lake Slam Preview
SD Attack 17u will face off against MN Fury 2020 Yellow first, then NT 16u EYBL squad then finish off pool play with MN Stars Antl (Platinum Division). SD Attack 17u is filled with talent so they will be up for the challenge. A nice little underlining story, will be the game against NT 16u EYBL team. Haleigh Timmer of NT is a South Dakota kid who completes in Class A opposite some of the Attack players. I won’t be surprised if some chirping is heard from both sides.
SD Attack 17u vs MN Fury 2020 Yellow, vs NT 16u EYBL, MN Stars Antl (Platinum Division Pool D) Winners could see, MN Fury 17u UAA or NT 17u Elite for the co-championship.
The 16s look to have some favorable match-ups in pool play. Their two pool play games consist of NT 9th Contreras and MN/WI Force (Gold Division Pool C)
Player Watch:
Wings Lexi Unruh (SD Attack 16u) and Grace Johnson (MN/WI Force)
Forwards Liz Olson (SD Attack) and Audrey Hatfield (MN/WI Force 2021)
SD Attack’s 15s are coming off a solid performance during the first live period. They will have a better group of competition for the upcoming weekend. Their first two opponents will be MN Fury 2022 Yellow and MN/WI 2022
Key Matchups:
Adriana Rhoda (MN Fury 2022 Yellow) vs Hannah Ronsiek (SD Attack 15u)
Brooklyn Meyer (SD Attack) vs Jenna Boisen (MN Fury 2022 Yellow)
The Pentagon Schoolers Brown 17u pool play will be great competition. CP Manitoba, out of Canada, always has a nice squad. They usually have really tall and long wings at 6 feet and up, and they still do. The Schoolers may have to be scrappy on the boards, as their tallest players are 5’11. They will finish pool play against another high quality opponent in MN Comets Elite 11th, a squad out of the St. Cloud area.
Key Figures:
Maddie Dejong and Megan Fannin (Pentagon Schoolers)
Another one of the Pentagon Schoolers squad is in the red division. 17s Borchers has a talented group. Most of the girls have been playing together for a while. Autumn Wilkinson and Reyna Beck are teammates at DeSmet so they have the zen type of connection. Their first opponent is Lady GetShook. They hail from the twin city and are well coached. Look for them to get out in transition early to set the tone. Schoolers will have to show poise, if things get a little out of hand. That game is followed up by another game against a solid group in North Iowa Fire. This is another program that seems to find hidden gems with length and athleticism.
