Although there are many body styles of athletes in general, there is a special appreciation for the long and lanky players in the game.
The way these players look and move in the game standouts out so much because of their length in everything they do but also, their length helps aid them in what makes them special as basketball players. Here are some long and lanky players in the state of Oklahoma!
The Players
#33 Jayla Burgess, Junior, 6’2, Forward, Tulsa Union HS, OK Federal Ballerz Platinum
Blocks shots with strategy on the ball. Moves well within offenses and likes to operate around high post, mid-post and some on the perimeter but could be more aggressive on the offensive end but only seems out of hesitation and not lack of ability.
#15 Mariah Curly, Sophomore, 5’9, Guard, Southeast HS, Unity Basketball-Hawkins
Drives strong to the basketball and plays with tempo as she moves. Mariah does not rush and strategically makes decision with the ball. One noticeable aspects of her game are how she executes moves to the basketball out of triple threat position rather than immediately dribbling the ball.
#32 Jaynae Eddens, Junior, 5’9, Guard, Epic Charter Schools, OK Swarm 17U Bluestar-David
Often in the right place on the court on both ends of the court and an IQ of the game, helps keep her on the floor. She takes advantage of her length on the defensive end by always having her hands up and causing some deflections or even just to make everything for her opponent more difficult.
#35 Natalya Jones, Sophomore, 5’8, Tulsa Washington HS, OK Federal Ballerz Gold
Uses her length very well in on ball defense, keeps her hands out in order to take up space. Not many basketball players remember to block out the shooter, but she never ever forgot, as well as she always looks to block out each time the ball goes up, the little things always go a long way.
#15 Taniya Tease, Junior, 5’8, Guard, Tulsa Edison HS
She uses her length to be able to push the ball up the court. What I like best is how much her head stays up as you can see her always looking for a teammate. She drives well to basket and embraces contact on her finishes.
