Scouts, coaches, players, and fans of the game have all been talking about their takes on the weekends action. We will take our second look at some of the players from Michigan that made a statement during the live period. It’s important to remember that this list is not all inclusive. There will be players not on the list that had big weekends. There may be players that scored more points, played in bigger events……etcetera. It’s just what one persons take on what happened over the weekend.
LaChelle Austin LaChelle Austin 5'9" | SG Wayne Memorial | 2021 State MI (2021, G, Henry Ford, HYPE Lady Hoopers)
Austin is an underrated prospect, but not for long if she keeps performing like she did at the Midwest Challenge. Austin was an incredibly strong rebounder and defender.
Kadyn Blanchard Kadyn Blanchard 5'9" | CG Freeland | 2020 State MI (2020, G, Freeland, Michigan Mystics )
Blanchard was at the Windy City Classic during the first live period. She is a player to really watch out for. Blanchard will be one of the most improved offensive players in the state by next high school season.
Kenzie Bowers Kenzie Bowers 5'10" | PG Kent City | 2021 State MI (2021, G, Kent City, West Michigan Drive 2020/2021)
Bowers was playing at the Windy City Classic. Everytime you see her play……think shooter. She’s lethal from behind the arc and is a consistent scorer.
Jillian Brown Jillian Brown 5'10" | CG East Grand Rapids | 2021 State #55 Nation MI (2021, G, East Grand Rapids, MBA 17u)
Brown was at the Clash in Cincinnati. The playmaker helped her team to a 22nd place finish. Brown created for herself and her teammates all weekend. She was very impressive as a distributor over the weekend.
Olivia Dirkse Olivia Dirkse SG Davison | 2022 State MI (2022, G, Davison, Michigan Cagers 2021)
Dirkse traveled to the Windy City Classiv with the Cagers. She’s excellent in transition. Dirkse can finish on the break or push the ball downcourt with an accurate pass.
Damiya Hagemann Damiya Hagemann 5'8" | PG Detroit Edison | 2021 State #35 Nation MI (2021, PG, DEPSA, Michigan Crossover)
Hagemann was at Boo Williams, where she showed why she’s considered one of the most well rounded point guards in the country. She’s a playmaker that’s nearly unstoppable in the open floor.
Olivia Kubik Olivia Kubik CG Utica Ford | 2021 State MI (2021, G, Utica Ford, Greg Grant Elite)
Kubik was playing at the Midwest Challenge wirh Greg Grant Elite. She was quite possibly the most impressive 2-way player at the event. Kubik proved to be an in your face perimeter defender.
Olivia Warren Olivia Warren CG Walled Lake Westeen | 2020 State MI (2020, G, Factory Orange
Warren could be seen at the Midwest Challenge. She was a fleet footed and dynamic guard. Warren was aggressive on both ends and simply made plays.
