Whereas no 2020 in Kentucky is committed for the boys side, there are already 8 ladies committed before starting their Senior year. For comparisons sake, there are only 9 boys in Kentucky with D1 offers right now. It’s easy to see why girls basketball is ahead of boys in our state. Having said that, let’s breakdown the 8 girls who are committed in the class of 2020.
Maddie Scherr, Ryle (Oregon) – Our top ranked rising Senior made her commitment to the Ducks on Monday night. Maddie is a highly ranked recruit nationally and should expect to help keep Oregon basketball rolling for years to come. She will join up with Kentuckian Erin Boley when she arrives in Eugene.
Shelby Calhoun, CAL (Virginia Tech) – One day after our top ranked 2020 made her commitment, the #2 ranked player in the class went public with her commitment to Virginia Tech. So what should the ACC program expect with Shelby? A do it all guard that is an elite rebounder for her position and whose offense just keeps getting better.
Kennedy Igo, GRC (Northern Kentucky) – Kennedy has been committed to NKU for a while now. She’s not bothering to play AAU this year because she’s already off the board to the Norse. Igo shoots the cover off the ball and should find her way on to the court as a specialist early in her career.
Ally Collett, South Laurel (Western Kentucky) – One of the better perimeter scorers in the class, Collett is ranked as the 6th best prospect in our 2020 rankings and she committed to WKU early in the process. Once she gets to the Hill, Ally is going to be competing for playing time as a scoring combo guard.
Erin Toller, Sacred Heart (Kentucky) – Toller committed to Coach Mitchell and the Wildcats back in February. Erin missed last season with an ACL tear but is on her way back and expecting to be a contender for Miss Basketball if she can get back to form after the injury.
Charlee Settle, Calloway County (Murray State) – Murray State is located in Calloway County and they weren’t going to let Charlee get far from home for college basketball. One of the state’s best forwards, Settle is an above average rebounder and finisher in the post. Look for her to be a factor down the line in the OVC.
Morgan DeFoor, Scott County (Morehead State) – DeFoor can sometimes get lost in the shuffle with all the talent at Scott County right now but she’s a D1 talent and should settle in comfortably at Morehead after her Senior season. Look for Morgan to have bigger numbers this season than what she posted as a Junior.
Hannah McKay, Owensboro Catholic (Murray State) – Hannah will join her AAU teammate Charless Settle as a part of the Lady Racers program. Hannah doesn’t get as much acclaim as some of the other ladies on this list but after averaging 14 points and 7 rebounds per game as a Junior, McKay is only going to keep getting better.
