She plays hard with tenacity and grit. She has a lot of wiggle in her game. Often seen bringing the ball up, she is a scoring point guard. Nice and quick shot that is consistent off of the dribble or on the catch. Good crossover that works well for her to create options. On the defense end, she has a high IQ with good footwork that allows her to stay with the opponent she is guarding. Her IQ in helping the helper on defense is easily seen especially with the type of playing she is accustomed to from her high school team.

About Averi:
What inspired you to start playing basketball?
I have always grew up around basketball with my dad as a coach. So, really seeing his love for the game through coaching and watching his teams play as I grew up is what really inspired my love for the game and to love playing it too.
What aspect of your game do you love the most?
The aspect of my game I love most is being able to attack and be aggressive on both ends of the court. I love to get in people’s grill on defense and also to break down the opposing team’s defense.
What are your plans for basketball in your future?
I plan to play basketball in college while pursuing a medical career.
What is your favorite basketball memory ever?
My favorite memory is winning the state championship, hands down. It was amazing to have all of my teammates do a dog pile in the middle of the floor, and then getting to hug my dad and sisters out there too!
What is your favorite thing to work on in the game of basketball?
My favorite thing to work on in basketball is ball handling, passing, and reading the defense. I love how it feels to read the defense and give the perfect pass to set up one of my teammates.
What do you like to do when you’re not playing basketball?
When I’m not playing basketball I love to spend time with my family and church youth group. I also enjoy reading and watching The Office.
