Continue ReadingAngola has been a program on the rise for the past few years garnering a 44-11 mark over the past two seasons. A lot of that success can be attributed to 5’8 combo guard Hanna Knoll. Knoll has the ball skills to play on the ball, but can also play off the ball as well with her shooting ability. This past season Angola made it to the regional finals where they dropped an overtime contest to Marion. Knoll was a big player on this team as she led the team in scoring at 13.3 points a game. Already this spring she has improved her game a lot and colleges are starting to take notice. Knoll is running with Indiana Flight UAA 2021 and this past weekend in Pennsylvania put her in front of some new faces.
Knoll mentioned to me that her travel team has been playing some tough competition. Playing that tough competition helps out her game a lot because at Angola she doesn’t tend to see a ton of the top talent in the state. Having a good AAU season not only improves her game, but also prepares her for the next level. Knoll has a really solid jumper but is so much more than a shooter on offense. She has a ton of ability to get to the rim and score, or run in transition and create opportunities for others. She’s a threat on the offensive end for sure, but she might be just as good on defense.
Knoll has a really solid basketball IQ and quickness to get in the passing lanes. Last season she averaged 4.4 steals a game and has the ability to create offense from her defense. She is a feisty defender and will keep improving on that end of the floor. All of the work during high school and the early spring season has really started to pay off. She holds offers from IUPUI, ISU, PFW, and Northern Kentucky. She’s taken visits to all four schools and with some new interest coming in from this past live period, Knoll is going to be setting up some more visits for the future.
This summer is a big year for her to improve. She has been working on her pull-up jumpers and making her shot more consistent. Knoll is also working on her ability to finish at the rim in different ways to make herself more complete. Her ability to score at all three levels is underrated and with improvements could become among the best in the state at it. While this has improved from the beginning of last year, she still thinks that it can get better and will always be working on it.
This upcoming junior campaign is going to be big for her on multiple levels. She is looking to improve in each statistical category and to bring home a conference championship. She is also looking forward to winning another sectional title and making the jump and winning regionals. Our 20th ranked sophomore in the state has a lot ahead of her and is a player to take notice of on the rise.
